THE ARTIST - MANDY BENOIT
The Eccentric Entrepreneur // ENTJ // Calla Lily Obsessed
Mandy began working at Trillium at just 14, when her mother owned the business.
She initially planned to continue through school before transitioning into a desk job that aligned with her background in multimedia and design.
Over time, however, she found herself drawn to both the creative and entrepreneurial sides of the floral industry and the idea of a desk job gradually lost its appeal. When her mother retired, stepping in to take over felt like a natural next step.
Since becoming owner in 2020, Mandy has focused on infusing her own vision into Trillium while maintaining the quality and care the Kanata community has come to expect. In fall 2025, she made the difficult decision to return the business to its home-based roots, allowing her to focus more intentionally on event work and bring her growing list of creative ideas to life.
Some highlights of her floral career include being featured in Canadian Florist magazine, appearing as a guest on the Flower Podcast, and winning the Florist’s Favourite Award at the Fleurs de Villes exhibit for her “Señorita” mannequin design. She has also attended two floral workshops in Vermont,
where she had the opportunity to learn from one of her longtime inspirations, Hitomi Gilliam.
From a design perspective, Mandy isn’t one to follow trends and believes the best work comes from breaking the rules. A lifelong Kanata resident, she enjoys her suburban surroundings with her husband, tarantula, and 2 dogs; Zoey and Zeus.
