my wedding

Wow, I almost can’t believe I have a full section dedicated to *my* wedding. I’m still getting used to being called a bride. I better believe it soon though because I have a wedding to plan! I’m going to use the following pages on the right to outline all aspects of my wedding as I plan for the next 13 months. I’m still in the beginning stages so please be patient as I gradually add what I come up with. I will also be adding posts to the blog about my wedding, so you guys can give me some feedback & hopefully help me out when I can’t make a decision (which is usually most of the time)!

Wedding DateMy wedding date…I mean OUR wedding date is Saturday, August 13th, 2011. There’s no particular reason why we picked that day, we just wanted it in the summer since we’re getting married outside and since we’re not superstitious we picked the 13th! The theme for our wedding is going to be gothic/dark but only in little ways…not in like a crazy, Nightmare Before Christmas, kind of way. Not that that wouldn’t be nice, it’s just not what we’re going for. I would say we have pretty traditional families, so we’re going to compromise. I will definitely say I’m a Budget Bride, having our total wedding cost $5000 (hopefully below, excluding our honeymoon). We’re having 50 guests, plus or minus a few, of our closest family and friends. I’m definitely not a super outgoing person so saying my vows even in front of 50 people makes me nervous!

So I hope you enjoy reading up on my wedding & I hope you get some ideas for your own. Feel free to drop me a line if you have any advice/ideas for me!

Hey, I’m Sarsafrass from OBB and I just wanted to say, if you can do 50 guests for $5000, I want to be your new best friend!! I’m hoping to do mine (in Ottawa as well) for $10000 and I’m finding that caterers don’t seem to be on quite the same page.

Haha, well I am realising as we get more quotes from our vendors that it will be difficult. Not impossible, just a little harder than I originally thought. For food, it’s coming out to be around $40 per person (including appetizers) which is our biggest expense. Which caterers are you looking at? Have you tried Bytown Catering? We were probably going to go with them if we needed a caterer. I can try to help you as best I can! The best way is to do as much as you can DIY and take out favors from friends. Best of luck!

We had our wedding in the morning, so we only had lunch catered instead of a 3 course dinner. Saves a lot of $$$!
