Do I Really Have to Get Aunt Betty a Corsage too?

November 15, 2010 -Floral Tips, Flowers, Wedding Budget

If you are faced with this question of where to stop when getting flowers for your family at your wedding, I’m here to help. A lot of brides ask me if they have to get boutonnieres (aka- the flowers that the guys wear) for every uncle and cousin and corsages for every grandmother, and thankfully you don’t.

Here’s a checklist of who you should consider when getting flowers for the wedding party:

Bouquets
  • Bride (of course!) & Toss bouquet
  • Maid of Honour
  • Bridesmaids
  • Junior Bridesmaid
  • Flower Girl
Corsages
  • Mothers & Stepmothers
  • Grandmothers
Boutonnieres
  • Groom
  • Bestman
  • Groomsmen
  • Ring Bearer
  • Fathers & Stepfathers
  • Grandfathers
Optional
  • Ushers
  • Master of Ceremony
  • Aunts & Uncles
  • Officiant

Keep in mind that choosing who gets flowers also depends on personal preference (I’ve had some grooms who don’t want to wear a boutonniere), budget and traditions. Although boutonnieres are on the inexpensive side, giving one to every friend and uncle adds up. I’ve also found with certain families, it’s customary to give them to all the aunts and uncles. You’ll know based on your family, when to draw the line and I doubt anyone would be insulted if they were left out, they’ll be too happy for you and your new hubby to care!
