Wedding Advice: Stick To Your Gut!

April 18, 2011 -No Comments -My Wedding, Wedding Venue

As of last Wednesday I was 4 months away from the big day *takes a deep breath*! As usual, same as when I was in school, I always leave things to the last minute. I thought with the wedding I would get things done earlier because I’m such an organised freak but no, I’m 4 months away with not much to show for it. I realised all I’ve been really doing is reading wedding blogs, looking at magazines, adding to the MANY saved pictures in my Wedding folder, but no real decision making or getting things done. I guess I just felt that I needed to know every little thing about weddings and every single option before making a decision. This week I realised that that is NOT TRUE!

January 29th Wedding + Mason Jar Centerpieces

This past weekend was our first wedding of the year – Sarah & Damian! I actually went to elementary and high school with Sarah so it was great working with her on her wedding flowers. They got married at Temple’s Sugar Camp near Ferguson Falls. The location has a ‘cottagy’ feel and is very beautiful inside. Once Sarah sends me pictures, you’ll see what I mean! If I had known about this place earlier, I would definitely consider it for my wedding.

October 2nd Weddings

This past weekend we were super busy with weddings, having a total of 5 to do! Luckily one was a Friday wedding so we could get started a bit earlier. Unfortunately I didn’t have a chance to take pictures of that wedding though. I really wish I had because they were such lovely fall bouquets. The bride’s bouquet had Pin Cushion Proteas in them which are one of the funkiest flowers in my opinion. But enough about the wedding I don’t have pictures of and onto the ones I do![...]

Brookstreet Hotel Review

The Brookstreet Hotel is definitely a popular spot for weddings. The hotel, which I’ve been in many times, is so beautiful and modern. Through the Kanata Chamber of Commerce I also won a free night stay there a couple years ago and believe me when I tell you, the rooms are spectacular. I absolutely love modern and simplistic décor so it’s almost like this hotel was built for me. It’s definitely a completely different experience then say, staying at the Holiday Inn (no offense to them, their rooms are still great!). They can accommodate weddings from 75 guests (if less, they make you pay $10 extra/guest) up to 350. If you are considering holding your wedding there, I’ve accumulated as much information on the hotel as I could to help you out in your decision![...]

September 25th Weddings

So now that I’ve bought a fancy, new camera it makes for much nicer wedding flower pictures! From now on I’m hoping every week to show off some pictures of weddings we have done, since there are so many this year…unless there’s a weekend we don’t have weddings of course. I’ve created a new post category called “Trillium Weddings” so these pictures are easily searchable. This past weekend we had 2 weddings – Megan & Jane’s![...]
