Hello everyone & welcome to my blog! If you’ve been into the shop before you’ve probably seen me once or twice (the little 5 foot nothing in the back), but if not let me introduce myself. My name is Mandy Boyd and I’ve been a proud worker at Trillium for almost 10 years now. You may have caught the similarity between the owner’s last name and my own – she’s my mom! I often get asked by customers if I’ve taken some type of flower course in order to work at Trillium but fortunately I’ve been able to skip that step by having my mom teach me everything she knows (although I am a recent graduate from the Interactive Multimedia & Design course through Carleton University)! Not only that, but I’m inspired each day by my wonderful and uber-creative co-workers who amaze me with their talents. I’m blessed to have such great people to work with and awesome customers, who are my inspiration for this blog.
Why a blog?
As I put together the Trillium Floral Designs website, I found there was only a limited amount of information we could include on it before it became too cluttered. I was finding every day I had a new idea for an article or some type of tip to include on the site, but there was nowhere to put it. The solution =a blog! There are so many common questions we get from customers and brides and now I can use the blog to answer a lot of those questions!
What I will be blogging about!
As a recent bride-to-be diving into the wedding planning world I would love a place where I can share all my new findings and get other brides’ feedback. I know wedding planning can be really stressful so I would love to help other Ottawa brides as much as I can by helping them through the planning process and answering any questions they may have for the wedding flowers they choose. I will not only provide general wedding information, but information about local vendors as well (because we know how supporting local businesses is important…the good ones anyway!).
I will also include some general flower tips such as how to care for your flowers and what’s in season, as well as general design & décor trends that I come across. The blog will be organized by topic so searching for certain posts you’re interested in should be simple. I will be posting twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays.
I hope these articles help inspire you to search your creativity & try something new! I’m always open to suggestions on new topic ideas so don’t be shy to throw me a line!
Thanks for reading,
Mandy
